Arts & Science Council, Charlotte, set goal of $8.3 million for 2011 annual fund drive, up from $7.3 million goal last year; increase is part of separate campaign that focuses on restoring arts, science, history education programs in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools that include field trips, curriculum-based programs and teacher training and development.

Hardee’srestaurants in North Carolina and nearby states raised nearly $95,000 for Patriot Foundation to support children of military families and provide college scholarships to children of fallen Fort Bragg, N.C., soldiers.

North Carolina Community Foundation adding three new members to statewide board of directors — John Cameron, managing partner and founder, TransTech Management, Greensboro; Frank B. Gibson Jr., partner, law firm Murchison, Taylor and Gibson, Wilmington; and Karen Stiwinter, owner, accounting firm K.M. Stiwinter and Company, Franklin.

Peg O’Connell, senior advisor for government and legislative affairs, consulting firm Fuquay Solutions, named to board of directors, N.C. Stroke Association.
