May 19: Pigeon River Fund, Communities in Schools, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and more

Pigeon River Fund of The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, Asheville, awarded total of $153,313 in grants to environmental groups working in Western North Carolina.


Kramden Institute pledged to donate 69 laptops and 119 desktops to students graduating from five Performance Learning Centers, Communities in Schools of North Carolina.


Big Brothers Big Sisters Services, Winston-Salem, with donations as part of Hanesbrands company volunteer service day, distributed bikes and helmuts to 40 children in Big Brothers Big Sisters program, plus 40 children involved in Salvation Army Boys and Girls program.
