United Way of Forsyth County presented R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company Community Service Award to Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corp.; Paul Fulton Tocqueville Leadership Award to R. Michael “Mike” Wells Sr., senior partner at law firm Wells Jenkins Lucas and Jenkins; and Decade of Excellence Award to Hanes Brands.


Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont, Charlotte, giving 2011 Jack Callaghan Cornerstone Award to Carol Hardison, CEO, Crisis Assistance Ministry; Volunteer of the Year award to Stephanie Johnson, Bank of America; Corporate Champion award to BI_LO; and Good Work! Awards to Susan Byrdsong, Steven Struble and Parris Friday.


John Thoma, CEO, Hospice of Wake County, appointed to serve out unexpired, 1.5-year term on board of directors, National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.
