June 21: Allen Tate, Wilmington nonprofits, Goodwill, and more

Allen Tate Company, Charlotte, raised $52,737 to benefit local United Way organizations in 15 counties in Charlotte, Triad and Triangle regions of North Carolina, and upstate South Carolina.

Ctoan Inc., Wilmington, launched WilmingtonGivesBack.org, website focusing on nonprofits operating in and serving Southeastern North Carolina.

Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont contracted with City of Charlotte to recycle or refurbish city’s computers and electronic equipment.

NASCAR Foundation will award inaugural Betty Jane Frances Humanitarian Award, including $100,000 donation to children’s charity of recipient’s choice; deadline for nominations if July 18.

Through grant from Corporation for National and Community Service, and new partnership between Communities in Schools of North Carolina and N.C. Campus Connect, 170 North Carolina college students will serve as AmeriCorps members in ADVANCE, or AmeriCorps Dedicated to Virginia and North Carolina Children Excelling.
