July 11: YWCA, BB&T, Arts & Science, and more

YWCA of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County received $50,000 from Barbara Lasater Hanes Trust and James A. Gray Family Fund at The Winston-Salem Foundation to support its Gateways to Responsibility campaign.


The BB&T Lighthouse Project, community-service effort by BB&T employees, provided resources to install 20-station computer lab at Interactive Resources Center, day resource center for people experiencing homelessness.


Arts & Science Council, Charlotte, investing $7.6 million in 69 arts, science, history and heritage groups and projects in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, including $4 million for museums, science centers and historic sites; $3.3 million for performing arts; and $279,000 for community and diversity projects.


Easter Seals UCP North Carolina & Virginia received four-year, $181,818 grant from N.C. Division of  Social Services to serve children adopted from foster-care system and their families in 10 counties in Eastern North Carolina.
