United Arts Council of Greater Greensboro exceeded the $1.2 million goal for its 2011 annual campaign by $1,621, generating support from 1,540 donors, including businesses and foundations that gave over $700,000, an increase of over $200,000 from 2010.

SECU Foundation, through partnership with Dare Education Foundation and Dare County Board of Education, made interest-free loan for teacher housing initiative, Buxton, to help assure new teachers on Hatteras Island have safe and affordable housing alternatives.

United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County named 11 new board members – Robert Azar, Global Medical Technologies; Claudia Corletto-Coleman, writer and visual artist; Kate Day, Cisco Systems; Elizabeth Grimes-Droessler, Wake County Public School System; Adrienne Kelly Lumpkin, Alternate Access; Tiffany A. Neijna, Ernst & Young; Margaret Rosenfeld, Smith Anderson; Steve Schuster, Clearscapes; Sonya Shaw, Town of Garner; Jodi Tata, civic volunteer; and Lizette Cruz Watko, Watko Entertainment.
