A seasoned foundation and business executive will lead the Council on Foundations as the organization searches for a replacement for Steve Gunderson, who resigned as president and CEO in July after serving in the post for six years.
Jeff Clarke, a senior fellow with the Rasmuson Foundation in Anchorage, Alaska, will become interim president and CEO, effective Sept. 1.
Clarke served as vice president for Rasmuson for nine years and also has significant experience consulting for corporations in the areas of strategy, business processes, technology and performance measurement.
Currently, Clarke is the board chair for Philanthropy Northwest and serves on the board of PRI Makers Network.
“Jeff’s strong management and operations expertise, specifically in technology and finance, will allow him to focus on enhancing the council’s service and value to members,” Kevin Murphy, vice chair of the council’s board, wrote in an email to the council’s members. “He will encourage a positive and productive culture among staff, provide thought leadership for our sector and promote the growth of philanthropy.”
The Council on Foundations is a membership organization that provides resources and support for more than 1,700 private, operating, public, community and corporate foundations throughout the U.S.
