Sept. 16: Golden LEAF, Rural Center, SECU, and more

Golden LEAF Foundation, Rocky Mount, awarded 21 grants totaling over $8.5 million in August, bringing total funding since its inception to 1,110 grants totaling $511 million.

N.C. Rural Economic Development Center, Raleigh, awarded 18 grants totaling $5.5 million to create 585 jobs and assist projects in 16 counties, funding based on appropriations of N.C. General Assembly.

SECU Foundation, Raleigh, provided $125,000 – third installment in $375,000 grant — to Friends of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences to support UNC-TV series Exploring North Carolina.

North Carolina American Indian Health Board received $165,000 grant from Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust to hire its first executive director; Edgar Villanueva, former senior program officer, Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, named executive director, Indian Health Board.

Corral Riding Academy, Cary, received $5,000 grant from Golden Corral.

Congregational Nurse Program, Cone Health, Greensboro, received $3,000 CVS Caremark community grant to provide dental care to those in need in the community.

SciQuest, Cary, formed SciQuest Charitable Fund, donor-advised fund at Triangle Community Foundation.

I Am Now, Greensboro, received gift of house from anonymous donor as place for young women to transition to foster care.

Lowes Foods and Kraft Foods gave $15,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina, Winston-Salem.

Classical Music Across Cultures Project, Greensboro, received $10,000 grant from Cemala Foundation and $2,000 grant from Target.

Apple Gold Group donated $215,000 to The V Foundation for Cancer Research.

Winston-Salem Foundation awarded 12 community grants totaling $194,240.
