RTI International donated $2,500 to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern
North Carolina to support two large produce distributions.

Teach For America and the Progress Energy Foundation announced the allocation
of $45,000 to support Teach For America’s work in Eastern
North Carolina.

BB&T employees volunteered at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern
North Carolina’s Raleigh
warehouse as part of their "Lighthouse Project".  The purpose of the
"Lighthouse Project" is for BB&T to enhance the quality of life for
residents throughout our communities.

Over 4,000 Guilford
County residents walked
for change at the 2012 Greater Guilford Heart and Stroke Walk. The annual
non-competitive, family-friendly, dog-welcoming, one mile and 2.6 mile walk is
designed to bring public awareness to a heart-healthy lifestyle, while raising
the critical dollars needed to fund the life-saving mission of the
American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.

The
Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity and its exclusive corporate sponsor, LRN,
have announced that Sarah Ransohoff, University
of North Carolina, Class
of 2012, is the first place winner of the 2012 Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics
essay contest.
