Palm Healthcare Foundation (PHF), a healthcare foundation in Palm Beach County, Fla., announced funding for two programs, the Jerome Golden Center for Behavioral Health and the University of Miami and the Miller School of Medicine, which will enhance mental health services in Palm Beach County and focus on the integration of mental health and primary care services. PHF invests in programs and organizations that make the county’s healthcare system stronger.

Invictus FoundationTM received a grant from Genentech to scale its Welcome Home Network program and services. Invictus is a nonprofit organization offering one-on-one and family behavioral health counseling services with licensed behavioral health providers to active duty military, National Guard, Reserve forces, veterans of Iraq, Afghanistan and their families regardless of their ability to pay.

The CVS Caremark Charitable Trust has donated $50,000 to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund, a nonprofit organization that raises and distributes funds to community-based nonprofit organizations to ensure that they can address needs not met by FEMA, insurance and immediate disaster response organizations.

The Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties (JCF) award a $1 million grant to URJ Camp Newman to support the redevelopment of the 65-year old camp located in Sonoma County, Calif. As its first capital grant in 2013, the JCF’s $1 million contribution to Camp Newman represents the largest amount the federation grants to any single capital project.

Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics has received a $1,000,000 grant from the William T. Kemper Foundation. The contribution will fund the Center for Pediatric Genomic Medicine, which is the first genome center in the world located inside a children’s hospital. Its focus is on the diagnosis of inherited pediatric diseases, and to improving health care for children.

Toyota Financial Services has partnered with three auto remarketing firms, ADESA,Manheim, and Norwalk Auto Auctions to provide a donation of $464,425 to be divided equally among 19 Boys & Girls Clubs currently running the Diplomas to Degrees (D2D) college readiness program. Launched in 2012, D2D is a partnership between Toyota and Boys & Girls Clubs of America that provides tools, resources, and support to teens to help prepare them to move from high school to college graduation.

Hyundai Motor America announced a $25,000 donation to help the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) purchase a bus that will enable it to provide free tours and art workshops to students in the surrounding cities. MOLAA is the only museum in the United States exclusively dedicated to modern and contemporary Latin American art. Hyundai’s gift will allow the Museum to cover the bus’ first year of operation, which will serve a projected 5,000 additional students annually.

City National Bank’s Reading is The way up® nonprofit literacy program, in partnership with Barnes & Noble, announced the donation of 50,000 new books with a total value of $150,000 to nearly 33 elementary and middle schools, as well as a handful of nonprofit groups, in California, Nevada, New York City, Nashville and Atlanta. In an effort to promote literacy and support the local community, the book donations were the result of the 5th annual Holiday Book Drive last December at Barnes & Noble.

New York City florist and plant nursery Plant Shed New York Flowers will donate 10 percent of profits from the month of January to the Eugene Zitwer Foundation, a nonprofit organization run by volunteers that provides entertainment, toys, and special events to pediatric patients in New York area hospitals.

Hedge Funds Care has confirmed its full list of partner organizations for the 2012-2013 grants cycle. The organization will be supporting 17 groups working to address the effects of child abuse. The nine continuing grants and eight new grants total $620,000, donated by hedge fund industry participants. The grants are awarded to charitable organizations in the following areas that address child abuse: education, prevention, intervention, research, advocacy, and training. Razoo, a crowdfunding platform for causes, announced that 2012 was its biggest year for charitable giving to date. Razoo raised more than $135 million dollars for 16,000 nonprofits across the country since inception with more than half raised in 2012.

The National Child Labor Committee (NCLC) announced the recipients of the 27th annual Lewis Hine Awards for Service to Children and Youth. The award honors those individuals who, as professionals or volunteers, give of themselves and go the extra mile for the well-being of young people. The recipients are selected by a panel of judges from among hundreds of nominations submitted each year by business, community, and nonprofit leaders. A list of 2013 honorees can be found online.

The National Father’s Day Council announced that Terry J. Lundgren, chairman, president and CEO of Macy’s Inc., has been named a recipient of its 2013 Father of the Year award. Lundgren joins President Bill Clinton as a fellow honoree. The awards will be presented at the 72nd annual Father of the Year Awards in New York City on June 11.

The Surdna Foundation announced the appointment of four new program officers to more effectively deliver on its mission to foster just and sustainable communities in the United States. Elizabeth Mendez Berry, Jessica Garz, Alison Corwin and José Garcia will join the Foundation in February.

Grizzard Communications Group, a fundraising agency, has hired Bret Campbell as strategic advisor. Campbell brings to Grizzard more than 20 years of extensive agency account management and business development experience for Fortune 100 companies and major national nonprofits.

Commonfund, an investment manager for institutional investors, announced the appointment of Bradford K. Gallagher as chairman of its board of trustees, succeeding Laurance R. Hoagland, who has retired after serving a 12-year term. Commonfund also announced the retirement of Charles J. Pippin from its board, also after serving a term of 12 years.

High Fives Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising money and awareness for athletes who have suffered a life-altering injury while pursuing their dream in the winter action sports community, has achieved the $1 million fundraising mark. To date, High Fives has dispersed $621,000 in program services. The Winter Empowerment Fund, the CR Johnson Healing Center and BASICS. represent the three program services of the foundation in which athletes, community members and winter sports enthusiasts are served, healed and educated.

Grameen America marked its fifth year providing microloans, training and support to women living in poverty in the United States. Nearly 14,000 women have received more than $66 million in microloans to help them create and build small businesses.

Atlas Holdings LLC has announced the establishment of The Atlas Foundation, an initiative focused on the development of social entrepreneurs and sustainable social enterprises. The foundation has provided its first award to Create Common Good, a social enterprise based in Boise, Idaho, that provides job training and employment to refugees and at-risk populations by offering healthy food products and services.

Microsoft and GOOD, a civic-minded community platform, have partnered to launch the Give For Youth challenge to U.S.-based, youth-serving nonprofits. Nonprofits must submit their entry by Friday, Feb. 1 for an opportunity to be featured on Microsoft’s GiveForYouth.org, raise funds for youth-targeted microprojects and increase visibility. Microsoft will also match funds raised on the portal beginning March 17.

The National Center for Family Literacy is accepting applications trough Feb. 13 for the 2013 Toyota Teacher of the Year. The program will award $20,000 to the winning teacher’s program and provide a free trip to the 2013 National Conference on Family Literacy, which will be held from April 28-30 in Louisville, Ky. The application may be completed online at www.famlit.org.

The World of Children Award, a nonprofit organization that provides funding and recognition to individuals working on behalf of vulnerable children worldwide, is seeking nominations for its 2013 award. Over the past 15 years, 95 child advocates have been awarded $5 million. Nominations may be submitted online.

A new report by the Rappaport Family Foundation (RFF) shares the results of its RFF Spark Initiative, an experiment in philanthropy that is generating results in youth civic engagement. With less than $1 million, the foundation invested in high-impact advocacy using the civic and political power of young people on community college campuses. The report, A New Leadership Legacy, concludes that investing in student leadership creates social change on key issues for millennials – educational equity, immigration reform and the environment, among others.

Change Making Change Fund (CMC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children around the world through the collection of pocket change, announced it is opening its administrative capabilities for collecting and processing small change to all nonprofit organizations conducting fundraising campaigns. Any legitimate charity can now partner with CMC and utilize the power of convenient Coinstar® kiosks to collect and count coin donations for a 10 percent fee to cover Coinstar coin processing charges and defray CMC expenses. ONE, a grassroots global advocacy organization that fights extreme poverty and preventable disease, and iStockphoto have partnered with Zooppa, a multimedia platform, to launch a competition titled ‘ONE Thing We Agree On’. The contest will run through Feb. 26 and asks creative minds to develop a video or print piece that showcases rivals coming together to fight global issues.
