New York Life will donate $100,000 to The One Fund-Boston, which was established by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino to streamline donations to help the families and first responders affected by the Boston Marathon bombings. The Arizona-based Ben & Catherine Ivy Foundation will fund a second year of the Ivy Neurological Science Internship Program at the Translational Genomics Research Institute. The internship program offers hands-on biomedical research experience for high school, undergraduate and aspiring medical school students pursuing careers in brain tumor research, neuroscience and neurogenomics.

Single Stop USA won a second Social Innovation Fund award through GreenLight Fund Philadelphia to support the expansion of Single Stop services to the Community College of Philadelphia. Single Stop was selected by GreenLight as part of a competitive process which assesses local demand and opportunities as well as the capacity of applicants to make substantial impact on key areas of need in Philadelphia. With GreenLight’s support, Single Stop anticipates serving at least 1,000 Community College of Philadelphia students during the first year and growing steadily to help a substantial percentage of students stabilize their finances and complete their degrees over the five year life of the partnership.

National 4-H Council named two new members to its board of trustees, including. UnitedHealthcare Community and State Chief Operating Officer Danna Mezin, and AgFirst Farm Credit Bank Chief Executive Officer Tim Amerson.

Oregon Health & Science University Foundation (OHSU) has named L. Keith Todd as its new leader. Todd will assume the presidency of OHSU’s nonprofit fundraising affiliate effective June 1. Todd has also been named senior vice president for advancement by OHSU.

The Arthritis Foundation South Central Region announced the hiring of Karla Baldelli, senior vice president of development, and Decobia (Cobi) Gray, regional vice president of external relations.

The Partnership for Philanthropic Planning, a leading organization representing professional philanthropic planners has hired Alyssa Pfennig, CAE, as public relations and marketing manager.

Skyland Trail, a nationally recognized nonprofit treatment organization for adults with mental illness, welcomed new members to its board of directors.  New members include: Don Inman, Kelly Loeffler, Betts Love and Mark Rosenberg. In addition, Kit Bowlin, Samuel Dunlap III, Valerie Love, Beth Park and Charles Wellborn are new advisory board members.

The Noyce Leadership Institute has selected Jennifer Santer, vice president of content and programs for the Miami Science Museum, to serve as a 2013 Noyce Leadership Fellow. In this capacity, Santer will seek to increase the public impact of science centers, museums, and related institutions.

The Case Foundation announced that Sean Greene has joined the organization as entrepreneur in residence. Having spent more than 20 years as an entrepreneur and investor, Greene most recently served as associate administrator for investment and special advisor for innovation at the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The Conquer Cancer Foundation of the American Society of Clinical Oncology announced the Evelyn H. Lauder Young Investigator Award Endowment Fund that will annually support a Young Investigator Award (YIA) in memory of Evelyn H. Lauder. The fund was made possible by the support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Saima Hassan of the University of Toronto is named the first-ever recipient of this YIA, which supports promising young investigators conducting high-quality breast cancer research.

New York Times bestselling author Brenda Novak announced that the proceeds from her eighth annual diabetes research fundraiser will benefit the Diabetes Research Institute. For the first time, Novak worked with the Juvenile Diabetes Cure Alliance to stipulate that funds only support practical cure research. First held in 2005, the Brenda Novak for the Cure of Diabetes’ online auction has raised a total of $1.6 million for type 1 diabetes research. The Cornerstone OnDemand Foundation, a nonprofit organization formed by global cloud-based talent management leader Cornerstone OnDemand, introduced DisasterReady.org, an online training resource that assists relief workers in disaster readiness and response. The free online resource is designed to improve the preparedness and effectiveness of relief workers around the world by providing access to affordable, high-quality training tools and support. In addition to e-learning courses, users can access relevant links, webinars and other resources to help prepare them for aid work.

Alliant Credit Union Foundation and Business and Professional Women’s Foundation are partnering to provide free financial education, counseling, and tools for the growing community of women veterans and military/veteran spouses served by Joining Forces Mentoring Plus to promote and facilitate economic stability and prosperity in their civilian lives. These financial literacy resources will be available to all members of Joining Forces Mentoring Plus online employment mentoring platform through a designated financial literacy portal with access to online, phone, and one-to-one counseling and education.

The T.J. Martell Foundation, a national nonprofit organization supported by the music industry, unveiled a series of videos for the “Music’s Promise for a Cure” public service campaign to raise funds and bring awareness to the foundation’s mission of funding leukemia, cancer and AIDS research. Antioch University Los Angeles has added a Master of Arts in Nonprofit Management degree to its graduate offerings. Students enrolled in the 48-unit, 18-month program designed for working professionals will attend class one evening each week, and on the occasional Saturday morning, with online coursework between on-campus meetings. The program’s competency-based curriculum was developed following a review of recent research that identifies the capacity building needs of the nonprofit sector and the related managerial competencies and leadership skills required to address them. The National Community Tax Coalition (NCTC), a comprehensive membership organization for community-based tax and financial services agencies, and the Association of Financial Counseling and Planning Education announced a partnership for training that will take place at NCTC’s biennial conference in New Orleans Sept. 10-13. The training will prepare individuals for the Accredited Financial Counselor course exams required to become certified. Blackbaud Inc. released the 2012 Index of Higher Education Fundraising Performance, a report that provides a summary of key performance indicators of annual funds at more than 100 public and private institutions. The analysis is conducted annually as part of Target Analytics’ donorCentrics Collaborative Benchmarking service for higher education organizations. Metrics are based on historical transactional information and are standardized across institutions to provide the most accurate, unbiased comparative performance information available in the sector.
