Junior Achievement of Central North Carolina has received a $20,000 grant from Lincoln Financial Foundation. This grant will support the “American Dream – Prepare to Succeed” program and will provide funding for 30 classes serving up to 900 students.

Benevolence Farm has received a $15,000 grant from The Hayden-Harmen Foundation of Burlington. The most recent gift will provide general operating support to help launch Benevolence Farm which has been laying the foundation necessary to operate a working farm to offer women leaving prison a social-enterprise based transitional living program where they will live and work for up to two years.

Transitions LifeCare has hired Kristye Koontz Brackett as vice president of development and Steve Young, MD as associate medical director.

Leadership North Carolina (LNC) has added Paul Boney, Charlene Foley, Curt Ladig, Natalie Perkins, Terri H. Ratcliff, Armistead Sapp, and Kristy Teskey to the FY 2015-2016 LNC Board of Directors.  These officers and members started their terms on July 1.

ABC of NC Child Development Center (ABC of NC) and Peppercorn Theatre at The Children’s Museum of Winston-Salem (Peppercorn Theatre) came together to create an autism spectrum disorder and sensory sensitivity -friendly performance of Peppercorn’s summer show Take One Step. On July 23, Chapel Hill’s Farmer’s Market, Downtown Partnership, and the Town of Chapel Hill Parks & Recreation has begun its Downtown Pop-Up Farmers’ Market. Every Thursday until September 10th, it will take place from noon to 2 pm.

The Wake Forest University School of Divinity offers a Faith-Based Nonprofit Leadership Certificate program for people who are interested in developing their skills in nonprofit leadership. The program covers various topics through five-weekend intensives, running October 2015 through March 2016.

The grand finale of this year’s Yadin Riverkeeper TOUR is Paddle-A-Thon weekend in Winston-Salem August 20-22.

Robin Weinman will present on long-term care planning on August 11 at Spring Arbor of Raleigh Assisted Living. A boxed dinner will be served.

Sexual Health Initiative for Teens North Carolina is calling young people, ages 21 and under who live in or are residents of North Carolina, to participate in their 2015 Young Artists Competition. The deadline is September 10.
