8.15.16 St. Gerard House 2_revised With the help of a $20,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Henderson County, St. Gerard House’s Feed the Need program now offers a fully-equipped teaching kitchen to prepare weekly nutritional meals.

The United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County received a $10,0000 donation from Bank of America in support of arts education programming for Wake County schools.

North Carolina State University received a $45 million grant from the Golden LEAF Foundation. The grant will help support a new research facility for the North Carolina Plant Sciences Initiative in efforts to make North Carolina the global hub for plant sciences innovation.

The deadline for grant applications for the Community Foundation of Henderson County’s next competitive General Grants is September 1.

The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation raised more than $115,000 at their Denim Ball on August 6th to support the Moses H. Cone Memorial Park. An anonymous donor will match gifts designated for the estate up to $300,000 in the next few months.

The North Carolina Center for Nonprofits‘s Transition and Search Committee has selected Elinvar, a Raleigh-based search firm, to conduct the search for the Center’s new president.

8.15.16 C HibblerCharisma Hibbler has been named a Fellow at The Duke Endowment. The Fellowship is a full-time, two-year experience that encourages creative thinking and leadership development.

Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity celebrated the 25th Anniversary of a partnership with local Presbyterian and United Methodist churches, and 18 years of collaboration with the local Interfaith community on August 12th with a celebratory event to kick-off the construction of two new homes in Shiloh.

Child policy expert Mandy Ableidinger has joined the NC Early Childhood Foundation as the new Policy and Practice Leader.

Junior Achievement of Eastern North Carolina recorded a record number of students served and contact hours during the 2015-2016 academic year.

8.15.16 SECU Foundation_revisedThe new health center funded by the State Employee’s Credit Union (SECU) Foundation – SECU Advance Community Health – has opened in Southeast Raleigh. A dedication ceremony held at the center’s Rock Quarry Road location brought together community leaders and supporters to celebrate the opening.

On August 12th, designer and innovator Francis Bitonti spoke at The Mint Museum about how algorithmic design practices add value to a brand beyond fit and sizing. The talk explored the studio’s work creating customizable products and how that impacts design methodology.

The North Carolina Center for Nonprofits will hold its 2016 conference, “Nonprofits at a Crossroads,” September 21st-23rd.

AFP-Triangle Chapter is seeking nominations for the 2016 National Philanthropy Day awards. The deadline to nominate a donor, philanthropist or fundraiser is September 1st. 

In honor of the National Park Service’s 100th anniversary, the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation is teaming up with 16 Asheville-area breweries for special beer releases and fundraising events in August and September to benefit the Blue Ridge Parkway.

8.15.16 InterFaith Council_revisedOn August 27th, Inter-Faith Council (IFC) will hold a service to honor the life and work of Donna Bradley, IFC’s Community Kitchen Manager.
 
Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation is offering a three-month course run by nonprofit technology firm Idealware and a team of expert trainers to help participating organizations create a fundraising technology plan that includes actionable goals and a finite set of projects for the future.
 
On Saturday, October 15th, ENC Stop Human Trafficking NOW will host their annual fall fundraiser at the Greenville Museum of Art.
 
The Danville Regional Foundation invites community members to nominate a local nonprofit for the 2017 B.R. Ashby, M.D. Award for Outstanding Community Service. The $50,000 general operating grant award honors outstanding community service in the Dan River Region by nonprofit organizations.
 
SHIFT NC will host “Take Flight,” a fundraiser, auction and benefit for adolescent sexual health on September 17th in Durham. 
 
On Friday, September 30th, United Way of Henderson County will host a “Day of Caring”, an event that encourages volunteers to aid in the completion of service projects around the county.
 
Piedmont Health Services and Sickle Cell Agency will host its 3rd Annual 3K Sickle Cell Run/Walk on August 27th in Uptown Charlotte. The event will help raise awareness about sickle cell and raise funds to support patients and their families.

The Joel Lane Museum House will host their Block Party fall fundraiser on Sunday, September 18th from 2:30 to 5:00 pm in Raleigh.

Triangle Family Services will host its annual Wake Up! With TFS breakfast on Thursday, September 1st at the PNC Arena in Raleigh.
