8.22.16 2016 SUPERVALU National Expo_RevisedRepresentatives of Feeding America accepted a $100,000 donation at SUPERVALU’s 2016 National Expo for Grocery Industry Professionals in support of the organization’s mission to end hunger. 

GroundFX, an interactive display system created by GestureTek Health, brings engagement to sensory rooms at The Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.

U.S. Representative French Hill joined representatives from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas, Bank of the Ozarks, and Habitat for Humanity of Central Arkansas on August 12th, for a wall-raising event and to celebrate $347,000 in Affordable Housing Program grants. 

Citizen Schools received a one-year grant from All Points North Foundation for $60,000 to support the organization support more students at the Joseph Browne Middle School in Chelsea, MA. 

The Rite Aid Foundation donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross Louisiana Capital Area to help the victims, families and communities across the greater Baton Rouge area that were affected by the historic rainfall and flooding.

The Walmart Foundation donated cash and in-kind donations of $500,000 to organizations helping with relief efforts for those affected by the floods in Louisiana.

8.22.16 Kohls_revisedKohl’s and actress Vanesssa Hudgens donated shoes to nearly 2,000 Los Angeles students and $6000 to more than 80 teachers to purchase classroom essentials.

Lowe’s will donate $500,000 to American Red Cross Disaster Relief to help those affected by recent flooding in Louisiana. Lowe’s is working with its national nonprofit partners to provide both immediate and long-term support to local communities.

The Dayton Power and Light Company Foundation  awarded grants to Dayton Performing Arts Alliance, Victoria Theatre Associaiton and WYSO Public Radio totalling $250,000. 

Regions Bank will donate $25,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to help those affected by recent flooding in Louisiana. 

Nutrisystem awarded scholarships to Girl Talk’s National Leaders of the Year, the organization’s highest and most prestigious award. This year’s recipients are Natalie Cox and Mikayla Keen who founded their Girl Talk Chapter in Fort Branch, Indiana. 

Cox Enterprises named the recipients of the Jim Kennedy Scholarship Fund. The Fund supports children of Cox employees and awards ten $10,000 scholarships. 

8.22.16 Sabra_revisedSabra will launch “Plants with a Purpose,” a community engagement mission dedicated to helping alleviate the impact of Food Deserts. A pilot program will launch in Richmond and Chesterfield County, VA. 

American Family Housing received over $155,000 in sales and donations from its 5th annual Ribs, Pigs and Watermelons—Professional BBQ Competition, Music Festival and Car Show held August 5th-7th at Huntington State Beach.

The Michelson Found Animals Foundation raised $1.3 million for their “Saving Pets Challenge”, a 32-day fundraiser which involved nearly 600 animal welfare organizations across the country. 

The Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan will award $2 million in grants to 20 programs designed to improve healthy food access for children and seniors in southeast Michigan. 

Aroha Philanthropies awarded nearly $500,000 in grants to 15 nonprofits through its “Seeding Artful Aging” initiative to develop and enhance successful Artful Aging programs throughout the U.S.

Motorola Solutions Foundation will grant $3.45 million to 83 organizations dedicated to improving public safety in communities in the United States. 

PECO Green Region donated $160,000 in grants to 20 municipalities and nonprofits to fund innovative environmental projects.

8.22.16 Pohland Family Foundation_revisedThe Pohland Family Foundation named Susan Bass Roberts as its vice president, executive director. Bass Roberts previously served as executive director of the Best Buy Foundation

The Information Technology Disaster Resource Center completed the Deweyville Service Project where volunteers helped the community recover from recent floods.

Julia and Jennifer Hudson and the Julian D. King Gift Foundation hosted thousands of students at their Annual “Hatch Day” Celebration in Chicago. Students ranging from K-12 walked through received backpacks filled with supplies for the upcoming school year. 

The Consumer Healthcare Products Association named Anita Brikman as the association’s Vice President, Communications & Public Affairs and as Executive Director of the CHPA Educational Foundation, the association’s 501(c)(3) educational affiliate.

8.22.16 Saint Luke's Foundation_revisedSaint Luke’s Foundation of Cleveland named Elizabeth Honold as Finance Director. Honold previously served as the Manager of Investments and Finance for the Cleveland Foundation

The Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation launched #TargetLyme a national public service awareness campaign aimed at raising the awareness and understanding of Lyme disease.

FCi Federal Founder and Chairman Sharon D. Virts today announced the launch of her family Foundation, the Sharon D. Virts Foundation. The organization will focus on Education, Culture, Healthcare and Opportunity. 

The Solutions Project is launching the Fighter Fund, a new grant-making program for community-based groups on the front lines of the fight for clean energy and climate justice. 

Inspiring the American Dream Foundation released a new report detailing final results of its pilot Opportunity to Succeed Program at A.R. Lewis Elementary School in Pickens, South Carolina.

Univision Communications Inc. has partnered with the Election Protection Coalition to help ensure every voice and every vote is heard during the electoral process.

The Hawai‘i Community Foundation hosted the annual Ho’okele awards to celebrate its centennial anniversary and its 15th year honoring Hawai‘i’s nonprofit leaders.

The Small Arms Survey will host a weapons identification workshop for journalists September 6th-7th in New York as an opportunity to learn about weapons proliferation and control
 in order to improve reports on weapons and ammunition.

8.22.16 City Harvest_originalCity Harvest will host the Bid Against Hunger fall tasting event. Attendees will sample dishes from over 70 restaurants. All proceeds support City Harvest’s anti-hunger programs.

The Knight Foundation will open applications for it’s third annual Knight Cities Challenge on October 10th. The program will provide up to $5 million in grants to winning cities. 

The Audre Lorde Project invites graduates of TransJustice Community School to apply to the TransJustice Community School 1.5, a four week program where participants will build their collective knowledge of campaign organizing and community building.  

The Indiana State Museum will open a new exhibition, Design Zone, from October 22nd to January 8th, 2017. The exhibit is a highly interactive, hands-on exhibition where visitors can explore a variety of creative concepts to learn the processes and tools needed to create a successful design.
