H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation honored two local nonprofit organizations with $10,000 each. The grants were presented to SongShine Foundation and SAGE Initiative, Inc.

Henry Schein, Inc. donated 4,000 Welcome Kits for people staying at American Cancer Society Hope Lodge facilities, which provide free temporary housing services in locations across the U.S. for people receiving cancer treatment far from home and their loved ones. This is the tenth year Henry Schein has supported Hope Lodge through the Welcome Kit program. 

The Russell Family Foundation has provided $135,000 in grants for the first part of 2018.

Boeing has agreed to contribute $3 million to Virginia Tech’s Discovery Program, which is scheduled to enroll its first students in the fall 2019 semester. 

Mainframe named the beneficiaries of their crowdgift campaign, Proof of Heart: The Human Rights Foundation’s Flashdrives for Freedom, WITNESS, Coincenter, Access Now, Electronic Frontier Foundation, Reporters Without Borders and Index on Censorship will receive a combined total of 1020 Ethereum (ETH). With the help of its community donating ETH to a single wallet address, the crowdgift campaign raised $1.4 million USD on behalf of organizations aligned with Mainframe’s mission to promote ideals of privacy and freedom.

The Oregon Community Foundation (OCF) hired Mariann Hyland as their Vice President of People & Culture, where she will lead the development of a culture engagement strategy to advance OCF’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

America’s Warrior Partnership named former U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole as the recipient of the fourth annual Leo K. Thorsness Leadership Award.

The Alpha-1 Foundation named Jeanine D’Armiento, MD, PhD, as Chair of its board of directors.

Connecticut Community Foundation’s members have elected Brian M. Jones of Southbury and Stephen Seward of Roxbury to three-year terms on the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. 

Coolibar has been honored by the Melanoma Research Foundation as the recipient of the 2018 Corporate Leadership Award for elevating melanoma awareness and advocacy through their This is Brave campaign.

Communities Foundation of Texas  announced several staff promotions to the senior director level: Wende Burton as Senior Director of Philanthropy, Beverly Garner as Senior Director of Property & Facilities and Kristen Kuhne as Senior Director of Educate Texas.

The 4th Annual Green Beetz Day was held on Saturday, July 28th in East Hampton. The event supports Green Beetz‘ mission to empower students to understand how food impacts the environment, their bodies and the world around them, and expand outreach to NYC elementary and middle-schoolers.

Tickets are now on sale to The Undies Project’s Cocktails and Comedy event on Saturday, September 29th, featuring comedian Ross Bennet.

 The National Sports Collectors Convention (NSCC) is teaming up with HandBid to conduct an online charitable auction, at the 39th Annual NSCC. 100% of the auction proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland.

Developmental Disabilities Institute will host its annual Walk in the Park & Family Picnic, on Sunday, September 23rd at the Holtsville Ecology Park.

National Bohemian Beer Company launched its second annual summer Tabs for Crabs program, in which of-age consumers across the Mid-Atlantic can collect and return their National Bohemian beer tabs for a cause. For each red, crab-etched can tab that is collected and returned before October 1st, National Bohemian will donate 10 cents to The Chesapeake Bay Foundation‘s local blue crab research and habitat restoration efforts, with a total maximum donation goal of $10,000.

Swiftpage launched their Small Business Idea and Invention Scholarship. The new program will award $2,500 to a student who submits an idea, invention, or app that helps small business owners grow their business and run it more efficiently.

The Finish Line Youth Foundation partnered with with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to impact the development of America’s future workforce by supporting Boys & Girls Clubs of America and local Clubs in the delivery of high-quality workforce development programming.

The 2018 Pet Hero Awards 6th Anniversary Ceremony will be held on October 19th at Gotham Hall in New York City.
