The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America awarded a $5,000 grant to help the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University fund their Reflections program, which provides “engaging and interactive museum tours to individuals living with dementia and their families.”

Oregon Community Foundation distributed nearly $10 million in new grants across the state. Nonprofits in urban, rural and suburban communities received more than 460 individual awards.

GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer selected two teams of researchers to receive $500,000 grants to support their work developing novel strategies to treat lung cancer. Click here to learn more about the researchers and the projects.

Penguin Random House joined with Former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama to donate an additional 300,000 children’s books to the “First Book” program, building upon the previously announced donation of one million children’s books to the program in the Obama family’s name.

The Yale University School of Management received a $100 million gift from The Broad Foundation to ensure “high-impact programs to advance excellence and equity in education.”

The College of Business at the University of Rhode Island received a $15 million gift from Alfred and Geraldine Verrecchia to create scholarships for “high-achieving students.”

The Huguette Clark Foundation awarded a $32,000 grant to the Family and Children’s Association to support its projects addressing elder exploitation in Nassau County.

The Coca-Cola Foundation and Keep America Beautiful seek applicants for the “2020 Keep America Beautiful/Coca-Cola Public Spaces Recycling Bin Grant Program.” Applications will be accepted through Tuesday, December 31st. Click here for additional information.

Prior to his time as president, Balfanz held various roles at City Year including chief operating officer and served as the founding executive director of City Year Philadelphia.

City Year has added to its board of trustees James A. Balfanz as the organization’s new chief executive officer.

Jennifer Farmer was promoted to chief executive officer at The Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA). Farmer has served as the executive director for FARA since 2007.

The GivingTuesday Data Collaborative released a report on GivingTuesday 2019, concluding online giving increased from $400 million in 2018 to $511 million in 2019. Click here for full access to the report.

Wells Fargo made new hires to support its new philanthropic strategy: Jenny Flores as small business growth philanthropy lead and Darlene Goins as head of financial health philanthropy.

Museum of the African Diaspora appointed Monetta White to executive director. White, who has been serving as interim director since August 2019, will begin in her new role immediately.

FBRK Impact House will open in March 2020 with lounges, offices, amenities, and a restaurant.

Former Chicacgo Bear Israel Idonije opened FBRK, a 45,457-square-foot lease occupying three floors of a Chicago office tower for a “membership-based work club and philanthropy center dedicated to serving and supporting grant-makers, family foundations and impact investors.” Click here for more information.

The National Audubon Society named Aurelio Ramos as senior vice president for the International Alliances Program. Prior to Audubon, Ramos guided the design and implementation of regional water, sustainability and conservation strategies in Latin America.

Michelle Yanche began her post as executive director of Good Shepherd Services. Yanche’s appointment follows the 50-year tenure of previous executive director Paulette LoMonaco.
