NC State Alums Return Home To Do Good
After successful NFL careers, Torry and Terrence Holt, former NC State football stars, created the Raleigh-based Holt Brothers Foundation in memory of their late mother Ojetta Holt-Shoffner. The Foundation works to mentor kids who have a parent with cancer and provides them with the tools needed to understand and cope with such a life-threatening disease.
College students run camp for kids
Students at Duke and UNC-CH organize and run Camp Kesem, a one-week camp in the summer for kids whose parents have or have had cancer.

The new fundraising effort could seek to raise as much as $4 billion, news reports say.
UNC-CH gets $6 million for honors program
The gift from the William R. Kenan Jr. Charitable Trust will help hire new faculty and double the number of undergrads eligible for the program.
